When did you first become involved with the VC?

I became involved with the centre at the age of 15. Inverclyde hosted delegates from around the world who came for a Youth Congress in Scotland. I was on the steering group to come up with ideas on what the delegates would do whilst staying in Greenock. The work I did with the group gave me my 100 hours MV award.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Spanish, I was far from fluent, but I enjoy the occasional tongue twister!!

What have you enjoyed in your volunteering experience as a whole?

The most enjoyable experience for me was getting involved in different projects up and down Inverclyde that allowed me to meet new people and allowed me to grow as a person.

What have you gained from your volunteering experience?

One of the first projects I was involed in as a youth was the “sweetbeet” project, which was a DJ training course that lasted for 10 weeks. This lead to me getting a job in the waterfront and later on I became the resident DJ in a local club, as well as many other training opportunities. I have gained many certificates through the various projects I have been involved in.

What was your favourite TV programme as a small child?

I can remember sprawling on the deck to watch it, but can't remember the programmes!!!

Are you currently still volunteering, and where?

Yes I am currently involved in volunteering with Inverclyde Youth Strategy group as well as Clune Park Youth Club. I also am involved in various aspects of young Scot. I am also the premiere member of the Youth Team Advisory Board for Erin and SJ at the centre.

Would you recommend volunteering to other young people?

Volunteering has had a positive effect on me and I feel that it could have the same effect on young people from any background.
