Disclosures

The Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS) was established by the Scottish Executive to provide free Disclosures (police checks) for volunteers in the voluntary sector working with children, young people and vulnerable adults at risk. The CRBS, based in Stirling, is a service operated by Volunteer Development Scotland.

Volunteer Centre Inverclyde can help your organisation to understand the registration process and support you to apply to be a registered organisation. Once registered with CRBS your organisation will be able to process free Disclosure checks for all your volunteers. We are known as a 'Trusted Partner' and rather than have to travel to Stirling, you can come to the Volunteer Centre for the visual ID part of the application process.

Diane McAllister, manager of the Volunteer Centre Inverclyde can:

  • Verify the person in front of her is the same person that is pictured on the ID documentation.
  • Sign and date the passport sized photograph provided by the person registering.
  • Complete the CRBS Trusted Partner form.
  • Send the picture and form to CRBS.
Volunteer Centre Inverclyde can also offer support in the form of training around the importance of Disclosures, legal requirements and good practice in involving volunteers.
