What is befriending?

Befriending is a supported one-to-one relationship between a volunteer
and someone who has been referred to the service. It offers supportive, reliable relationships to people who would otherwise be socially isolated. It usually means meeting with them once a week for a couple of hours and taking part in an activity with them.

It could be going for a coffee, having a walk
through the shops, going to the cinema or
maybe just staying at home with them for a chat
or watching a video or DVD together.
